New Mountain Asheville Presents A Campaign Fundraiser for Brian Haynes for City Council – Asheville’s Ultimate Folk & Funk Jam ft. Warren Haynes

August 25th, 2015 – Asheville, NC – New Mountain Asheville – Downtown Asheville’s newest multi-room concert venue and event space with outdoor amphitheater – has just announced that they will be hosting a campaign rally and fundraising event on Tuesday, September 8th, for aspiring City Councilman Brian Haynes, brother of legendary Rock and Roll musician Warren Haynes.
A native son and longtime resident of Asheville, Brian Haynes is a former local business owner and is currently employed as an Assistant Manager at Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity. Brian, his wife Susan, and his two sons, all live and work in the City of Asheville, residing in the River Arts District. Affordable housing and supporting the local independent business community are central to his campaign.
Haynes was recently quoted in the Citizen Times, saying, “I love Habitat and what they do. But we also need a lot more affordable housing in this town. People who work here can’t afford to live here without sharing a space with three or four roommates.” He is also an advocate for raising the minimum wage to living wage standards.
As the brother of a world-famous musician, folk artist himself, and former owner of the locally renowned record store, Almost Blue, Brian is a strong supporter of the arts. The event’s entertainment line up speaks volumes of the support from the local music community, boasting not only a performance from Warren Haynes, but supporting performances from 2015 Best of WNC winners Lyric (Best Band) and Free Radio (Best Hip Hop Group) with The Uprock Citizens Brigade, along with members of Toubab Krewe, Zansa, Jonathan Scales Fourcestra, Empire Strikes Brass, The Krektones, Malcolm Holcombe, Jeff Sipe, David LaMotte, and an all inclusive Asheville All-Star Jam, with more artists likely to confirm over the next few days.
The event will be held at New Mountain’s 1,400-person capacity outdoor Amphitheater. General Admission tickets are $15 with additional ticket tiers at $100 (includes a limited edition t-shirt, a limited edition poster signed by Warren Haynes, and VIP seating) and $50 (includes limited edition t-shirt). The event kicks off at 6pm, with musical performances starting shortly thereafter. Tickets can be purchased online at www.newmountainavl.com.
Concert-goers will also have the opportunity to get actively involved in the campaign with team leaders on hand to review canvassing maps, distribute campaign materials, and answer any questions.  A test ‘phone bank’ will also be set up so that prospective volunteers can try it out and get an idea of how phone banking works and talking points in support of the campaign.  Other volunteer opportunities with events and fund raising will be available.  A grassroots local campaign such as Brian’s can only succeed if the community joins forces and does it together, so please make a point to join TEAM HAYNES as part of Asheville’s Ultimate Folk & Funk Jam.
