Legendary House Music DJ Charles Feelgood at Asheville Music Hall August 22
It’s not often that world-renowned DJs come to Asheville, especially with the loss of Moogfest. Which on one hand is good, allowing local talent to satiate the city’s small but loyal base of house heads. but every once in a while we get a dose of the real thing, and on Saturday, August 22nd, Asheville Music Hall will be thumping to the deep house beats of DJ Charles Feelgood, along with local favorites In Plain Sight, Aligning Minds and Chad Howell.
Charles Feelgood’s rise to dance music infamy dates back to his humble beginnings as a leading force behind the Balitmore/Washington DC dance music scene. Alongside his partner and fellow DJ Scott Henry, Feelgood launched “Fever”, which for nearly a decade become one of the most sought after events for touring DJs from around the world. It was the days after starting Fever that Feelgood enhanced his reputation amongst those in the international dance community. He parlayed his danceable brand of House music up and down the East coast and became renowned for his creative ability to incorporate his love of 80’s music with a variety of different House styles into his sets.
In the years that have followed, he has taken his talents to all ends of the earth – from North and South America to Russia and Asia, and everywhere in between. He has appeared at such seminal events as Coachella, and Lollapalooza, and has become a welcome fixture with many of the largest production companies in the US and abroad. His initial popularity was assisted thanks in part to his legendary mixed series, “Time to Get Ill” and has continued to flourish through the release of remixes and singles such as “Jacker’s Anthem,” “My Life” and “Watchu Gonna Do”. He is a mainstay in the charts on BeatPort and Traxsource as well as other other worldwide digital sites. In the past couple years Feelgood has had several releases on Major and Independent labels such as, Instereo, Guesthouse, Fogbank and Ammo Recordings – with a breakout track called “Bebop” that stayed in the Beatport and Traxsource charts for most of the 2014 year! Feelgood remains committed to lighting up dance floors around the world – summing up his musical mission in one sentence: “I just want to do what the name implies, to make people have a good time and go home with a great feeling”.
In Plain Sight
In Plain Sight work within the realm of house music, bringing their own passions and experiences to their production and live sets for a stirring sonic result. The trio’s (Ezekiel, Lucas and Nomad in the Dark) tracks have proven equally effective in tiny darkened warehouses as well as in packed, international nightclubs, spun by some of the leading names in electronic music. Sasha, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo and Dave Seaman are just some of the esteemed fans of their work. Orbital chose their remix of “Where is it Going” as the winner of Moogfest’s 2012 remix contest.
Aligning Minds is the unique and captivating collaboration of two producers using sound to achieve a mutual vision. The Aligning Minds sound is melodic and bass heavy. It’s emotionally charged future music that rides on hypnotic breakbeats, infectious basslines, dubby soundscapes, and idm experimentation for one to dance or lounge to.
